Mission Statement

The Calgary Nordic Training Group is a cross country ski club with a vision to develop from pulk to podium, Family to Age Group cross country skiing for all. We are based on cross country skiing for fitness and using our events as milestones going forward to reach our long term objectives. We promote Family & Age Group cross country skiing ; for us the AB Cup series is Family Day all our members can participate.

Club Description

We are formally organized under the provisions of the Alberta Societies Act as a not for profit organization. The CNTG has an active membership of roughly 60 members. The typical breakdown is 25 children involved in Jackrabbits through Junior racing programs, 30 adults involved in age group to masters racing, 10 adults taking skill improvement courses and roughly 10 members at large taking part in the more social activities such as the Annual Family Picnic, Thanksgiving Turkey Trot, Moonlight skis, New Years events, Family Fun Days, Potluck & Ski and other fun events.

CNTG employs one team manager and six coaches who help to deliver most of the racing programs but are also actively involved in the other program delivery. As well the Club has more than 10 volunteer instructors and coaches who are active in the delivery of programs. All CNTG instructors have at least their CANSI Level 1 or Introduction to Community Coaching certificate.

The Club raises funds primarily through membership dues and program fees. We are actively seeking corporate sponsorship to help us with our costs.

The Club is a member of Cross Country Alberta.
